You can't always get what you want

Bird Rock, early morning.
I really wanted to surf this morning. I was not asking for anything else. At dawn I drove to Ocean Beach. Mick Jagger was whispering on the radio something I didn't really want to hear: you can't always get what you want! He was right! It was so flat I probably needed a 10-footer triple-stringer to claim a legitimate ride... I drove back to PB...checked Bird Rock for a while, not breaking... I suited up anyway but I started paddling south toward PB Point. A small wave was breaking on the reef...3 longboarders were a crowd given the conditions…caught a couple of waves; some energy was hitting the point forming a waist high drop; crisp air, blue skies, fairly warm water for this time of the year, light off-shore winds.
