December in San Diego

Outstanding weather brought me back to Mission Beach for one of those rare surfing days when a mediocre beach break delivers glassy conditions, crystal clear waters and perfectly shaped "peelers"! It has been so much fun to drop into fast and hollow liquid walls and racing them as fast as I could. The water was exceptionally transparent, I could clearly see the bottom and loose perspective of how shallow it really was. I've been lucky to catch the dropping tide at the right time, around 10 am, just before it became too low. The first week-end of December has been cold at night but warm and sunny during the day. Water temps are still reasonable, despite the usual shocker for the first "duck-dive" of the day :) Happy Surf!
