Rainy Easter

Ari and Charley reunited in PB.
Ari visited for the weekend. We met on Friday afternoon for a late session in Leucadia. A feeble south pulse was delivering mushy waist high waves at Beacon's. We got in the water to celebrate our reunion but the surf really disappointed us. We stayed in the water for 45 minutes and made plans to surf the day after, at the Cliffs. On Saturday morning we managed to surf "S" around 10 am. Again, waist high at best, a bit blown out but sort of fun. We caught some long rides, given the poor conditions. We surfed with vintage boards: he brought a 7'2 single fin Carl Hayward and I took the 6'10" Brewer...a blast from the past! On Sunday a new north-west swell hit the coast late in the morning. Heavy gray clouds and a fine drizzle combined with light side shore winds didn't give us many hopes but we really wanted to surf. It was Ari's last day in town. We got in the water at "S" with not many expectations but size jumped from waist to head high in an hour. We got into a nice groove, catching lefts and rights. The spot was working and it turned out to be super fun. We surfed from 10:30 to 12:30.
